Falling for Fernie
What is the first thing you notice when summer turns to fall in Canada? The color! Fall marks a time of truly spectacular landscape changes. Who can resist the crisp, chill air, a hot chocolate and the changing colors of the leaves around you. Although the temperatures are noticeably cooler, most would say it is pleasant enough that you can still enjoy most outdoor activities.
Take a moment to appreciate the beauty of fall around Fernie. With this comfortable weather being perfect for hiking it is such a great opportunity to get out on the trails and find yourself amongst the forest. You will see nature loving locals and tourists heading to hike trails such as the Mount Fernie Trail, Fairy Creek Waterfall Trail and Lake Trail just to name a few. You’ll be sure to spot some local wildlife, see all the native flora and even ancient fossils!
Snow Valley Motel is the perfect place to stay when it comes to location. We are just a short 10 minute drive to Mt. Fernie and Island Lake Lodge where most of the trail heads are. We are also only a 10 minute walk to downtown shops and restaurants or even better go for a ride on our townie bikes that are free to rent!
Make the most of this transitional season and the beautiful, vibrant colors it has to offer. Observe as nature prepares for winter. Because once the vivid colors fade, the leaves finally drift to the ground as fall comes to an end for another year.
